OVERSEAS LEARNING TRIP TO BEIJING
|
17 - 22 October 2007
Eleven Pathlighters who had completed their PSLE and GCE examinations went on an overseas learning trip to Beijing, accompanied by a team of teachers. The objective of the school trip was to enable the students to be independent and gain life exposure
They stayed at the Hope Foster Home in Shun Yi, Beijing, which takes in abandoned and orphaned babies and toddlers.
Our students and teachers had an enriching and enjoyable time! Renowned sites such as the Great Wall of China and Tiananmen Square captured their imaginations.
They also experienced the local culture such as the rampant bargaining at the market and the sale of fried insects as snacks. Besides fun and exposure, there was also much peer interaction as the older students played chaperon to the younger ones. They learnt independence and living in a community, and contributing to it. They also learnt to show care to the orphaned babies and toddlers at the Home and also helped with spring cleaning the children’s toys, quarters and playground.
