THE HAMPER PROJECT 2007
|
This is a pilot project to involve students to plan and execute production of commercially viable gift baskets, or Hampers. There are 3 main objectives for this exercise:
- Part of the Post-exams Programme for PSLE and GCE students
- Inculcate thinking skills through the full process from planning to delivery
- Allow students to experience the meaning of giving
4 main jobs where scoped out for students. These jobs were matched to their strengths and inclinations. The students took pride in their tasks and a lot of peer-coaching were observed. The four main jobs were:
- "Shopper" – Pick and sort Items & Quantity
- "Packer" – Assemble items and tape them into position in box-base
- "Wrapper" – Stuff fillers, decorate with ribbons and add all finishing touches
- "Delivery" – Plan and execute hamper delivery with social scripts
Students experience the full process of the project and they most enjoyed delivering and presenting them to our donors, buddy schools and various different people who helped the school. They were enthusiastic in describing the work they’ve put in to create the hampers. Some had the chance to tour the workplaces they delivered to.
