CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS 2007

Chinese New Year was celebrated in a carnival style in Pathlight in this year.

The Preparatory Track joined the rest of the Pathlighters from 8 –10 am. There were several booths at the carnival including, card and hong bao making, sampling of traditional goodies, mock up of a traditional Chinese house during CNY, ‘loh hei’, tracing of melon seeds and also viewing of a video.

After the carnival, the students watched a concert, which took place at the courtyard. The classes on the various levels took their chairs out to have a bird’s eye view of the concert. Students and teachers on the 4th level had the best view.

The programme started at around 9.20 am with the prize-giving of the art competition. After that, Ms Dolly and some of her students treated the Pathlighters to a ruan performance. The concert ended with the pageant prizes.

Students were dismissed at 10 am. For the teachers and everyone else in Pathlight School, we had our own ‘loh hei’ hosted by Ms Phua and Mr Victor. Auspicious phrases could be heard all around the tables.

We enjoyed ourselves and hoped that this year will bring us prosperity.
