COMMUNITY INVOLVMENT TRIP TO BEIJING

19-25 October 2010

School’s out for our students who had worked hard the whole year to prepare for their PSLE and GCE ‘N’ Level Examinations!

Led by our Vice-Principal, the group together with the teachers went on a Community Involvement Trip to Beijing from 19 – 25 Oct 2010.

Our students and staff stayed in Hope Foster Home, a home which cares for abandoned babies who are physically disabled. Apart from interacting with the toddlers and helping to maintain the cleanliness of the home, they also got to experience a different culture in another country. What made the trip more memorable were visits to the various historical landmarks in China, such as the Great Wall of China, Tian An Men Square, the Forbidden Ciy, the Marine Park and the Beijing National Stadium.

At the end of the trip, the students not only gained important knowledge about the culture and history of China, but they also learned to adapt to a different way of life. More importantly, as part of the whole school focus on Service Learning, they also learned to give back to the community by helping the children in Hope Foster Home. We are indeed very proud of our students for living up to our school value of ‘Contribution Beyond Self, in their very own special ways’.
