AN EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE @ THE ASIAN CIVILISATION MUSEUM

13 July 2010

Some of our Secondary 1 students went on an experiential learning experience at the Asian Civilisation Museum on 13 July 2010.

They visited the the rich authentic collections of ancient Asian Civilisations, and were introduced to historical artefacts and replicas, photographs and video recordings, documents and maps which lined the walls, shelves and floor of the museum.

Working mostly in pairs, our students eagerly explored and sought to discover history through studying the artefacts on display. They observed selected artefacts carefully, made drawings and sought to find answers to their questions. Some of the questions asked included:
  • What is this artefact?
  • Where did it originate?
  • What was the function and purpose of the artefact?
  • What does the artefact tell you about the people who made and used it?
  • What does the artefact tell you about the way of life in that particular society?
What an intersting History lesson it was!
