NATIONAL YOUTH BUSINESS CHALLENGE 2010

3 & 4 July 2010

Congratulations to the Pathlight team who came up tops at the National Youth Business Challenge Finals 2010! The Secondary School students who did us proud were: Elliot Chia, Megan Lee, Lee Zhi Da and Daniel Kwa.

The team bagged the following awards:

  • Overall Champion Award at the 2-day event
  • Top Most Earth Friendly Enterprise Award
  • Gold Award

The National Youth Business Challenge (NYBC) is organised by the Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Business & Accountancy. Secondary schools all over Singapore were given a challenge ‘to be enterprising for the good of Earth’s Environment’. The finals which was held at the Causeway Point Shopping Centre, saw our team pitted against 39 other teams from 28 schools such as Raffles Institution, ACS (Barker), and St Hilda's etc.

Our students came up with the idea of recycling milk and juice cartons into purses, pouches and attractive containers for plants. The Carton Wonders wowed the judges with their great work and a mascot which was the shape of a milk carton.

The event was officiated by Ms Ellen Lee, the MP for Sembawang GRC. The students exuded confidence as they presented their 'green' business ideas to the panel of judges, and made public announcements on stage. Everyone in the team played a part in marketing their products to the shoppers at the mall.

Congratulations once again, Pathlighters! Their hard work and many hours spent on meetings and planning have paid off. Thank you all teachers, Design Studio, YFAs interns who had supported the team in one way or another.
