2018 marks our first year participating in the Singapore Youth Festival - SYF Arts Presentation Primary category for Dance (International). Entitled 'Chasing Dreams', the performance is a testament to the perseverance and strength our students displayed in achieving their goals.

Through dance, our performers expressed their inner voice and showcased their special talent. They also proved that they can fulfill their dreams as long as they don’t give up. Kudos to our educators and all involved in making our students’ dreams come true!

Herb Garden To Enable Learning & Engage The Senses

Written by

Special thanks to SATS Ltd for sponsoring a herb garden in Campus 1 for our Primary 1 & 2 students to learn more about herbs as part of their Discovery lessons!

In line with our philosophy of active, applied and authentic learning, students from two Primary 5 classes joined the SATS management today in planting five herbs, namely basil, mint, oregano, rosemary and thyme.

They got their hands dirty with hands-on practice that connected what they’ve learned in their Science lessons to real-life applications. One of these lessons was on the important components necessary for plant growth, namely, soil, space, sunlight and water!

Thanks you, SATS, for joining us on this meaningful activity and this lovely garden. We look forward to growing this sensory learning garden together!

A Ribbit-ing Journey with "Uncle Frog"

Written by

Our Primary 4 students recently went on a Science Learning Journey to the Jurong Frog Farm (JFF). Amidst the lush greenery of Lim Chu Kang, they were warmly greeted by the approachable and knowledgeable instructor, Mr Zheng Xun, who introduced himself as "Uncle Frog".

Besides viewing various frog exhibits, students observed and handled frogs at different stages and sub-stages of their life cycles. While taking photos with a gleaming adult American Bullfrog, they learnt about the amphibians' gender differences and dietary preferences from "Uncle Frog". Imagine our students' delight when they were given the opportunity to feed the frogs at their enclosures!

Returning to school with JFF souvenirs, students consolidated their learning experience with a reflection in their journals. It was truly a memorable Learning Journey for both students and educators

Geographical Field Trip to Punggol Waterway

Written by

Secondary 2 students went on a geographical field trip to Punggol Waterway. The purpose of the visit was to study the impact of human activities in a nature reserve/park. The visit was a good opportunity for students to do applied learning and investigate if naturalized rivers support biodiversity, and to gather public opinion on the use of land resources for the construction of waterway parks. Students were able to engage in sampling and water testing using kits recommended by the PUB. They also practised their social and communication skills by interviewing members of the public based on questionnaires they prepared themselves.

A Rainy Day Hike

Written by

Our Primary 3 students engaged in active, applied and authentic learning during a 2-km hike on 7 March 2018 at Gardens by the Bay East. Besides learning more about a healthy lifestyle through teambuilding games and kick scooter, they also reaffirmed the four PE values of Friendship, Respect, Excellence and Teamwork. Throughout the day, they demonstrated knowledge of safety, and saw different types of plants which they did not usually get to see in the city. Despite the rain, all students enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

In A League of Their Own

Written by

On 1 March 2018, four of our students took part in the First Lego League Competition for 2017 – 2018. The competition challenged our students to think like scientists and engineers. During the competition, our teams chose to solve a real-world problem. They also built, tested, and programmed an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, teams displayed the FIRST LEGO League Core Values of discovery, teamwork, and gracious professionalism.  The end of the event was marked by a particularly touching moment in which one of our seniors pledged to come back to the Robotics Club after graduation to help in any way he could. It was a display of the intense friendship and solidarity fostered in Pathlight Robotics. The team has certainly done the whole school proud.
