Pathlight School (Tampines): Accepting applications only for Primary 1 only.

Application for Primary 1 AY2026
01 - Submit Application
All applications must be submitted online using the Ministry of Education’s digital form .
Pathlight School admits students through a centralised admission process.
You can only apply to one SPED school at a time. This includes choosing only one Pathlight School to apply to, either Pathlight School (Ang Mo Kio) or Pathlight School (Tampines). Before you start your online application, please ensure you have all the required documents with you.
Your child must have a formal diagnosis of autism. Please submit a diagnostic report from a relevant medical professional or psychologist.
Note
Applications will only be processed upon full submission of all the required documents.
02 - Attend School Screening Assessment
Based on information in your application submission, applicants who meet the identified criteria will be invited for the School Screening Assessment. This is to determine suitability for Pathlight School’s educational programmes.
Please refer to the table for the School Screening Assessment. This will be conducted according to the date of application and subject to the availability of vacancies.

Important Note
An application to the school or an invitation for the School Screening Assessment is not a guarantee of placement. Placement is still subject to suitability and vacancies.
03 - Outcome
Applicants who are not invited for the School Screening Assessment will receive an outcome within 3 months from the date of application.
Applicants who are invited for the School Screening Assessment will receive an outcome between 2 and 4 months after the assessment.
04 - Waitlist Policy
Waitlist Policy in SPED Schools for Primary 1 Placement
With effect from 1 January 2023, a child applying for placement in Primary 1 in a government-funded SPED school can only be placed on the waitlist if the child has first been placed in another government-funded SPED school[1], which serves the same primary diagnosed condition. Please refer to this link for the list of SPED schools categorised by the primary diagnosed conditions.
This requirement will also apply to returning Singaporeans entering SPED schools at all levels.
- A child placed in a mainstream school will not be eligible to be on the waitlists for SPED schools. Should there be interest in transferring the child to a SPED school, please refer to the “Transfers from Mainstream Schools” section for more details.
Transfer from Mainstream Schools
With effect from 10 October 2022, applications from a mainstream school to a SPED school must be facilitated through the student’s mainstream school. This includes Primary School students applying for Pathlight's Secondary School programme.
Please approach the mainstream school Principal to apply for the transfer.
Direct applications from parents/legal guardians, private professionals, and hospitals will not be accepted. For more information, please view MOE's Guide on applying to a special education school.
Transfer from non-Mainstream Schools (including returning SG citizens)
01 - Submit Application
If your child is not enrolled in a mainstream school OR a returning SG citizen and applying to join other levels in Pathlight's Primary and Secondary School programmes, please submit your child’s application via the Ministry of Education’s digital form .
Before you start your online application, please ensure you have all the required documents with you .
We would also require the following:
- Your child must have a formal diagnosis of autism. Please submit a diagnostic report from a relevant medical professional or psychologist.
- All relevant and latest reports on your child’s academic progress in school (including copies of examination scores, if applicable)

Do note that applications will only be processed upon full submission of all the required documents.
02 - Attend School Screening Assessment
Based on information in your application submission, applicants who meet the identified criteria will be invited for the School Screening Assessment. This is to determine suitability for Pathlight School’s educational programmes.
School Screening Assessments will be scheduled when there are available vacancies.

An application to the school or an invitation for SSA is not a guarantee of placement. Placement is still subject to suitability and vacancies.
03 - Outcome
Applicants who are not invited for the School Screening Assessment will receive an outcome within 3 months from the date of application.
Applicants who are invited for the School Screening Assessment will receive an outcome between 2 and 4 months after the assessment.
